Congratulations Hannah!

Huge congratulations go to Hannah Kerry on her new job with R&R Productions. Based in Leicestershire, the company stages events and private performances around the country.

These photos were taken on Saturday 18 October, when Hannah gave a glittering debut professional performance in the 'Rat Pack'.

Hannah graduated in Summer 2014 from the Hammond School and the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing. We wish her every success in her career, and many more fabulous costumes to come!

BBC Young Dancer 2015

The BBC contacted Claire during the Summer vacation with news of an exciting, brand new opportunity for young dancers.

If you would like to know more about this project, click on the picture to see the entry brochure on the bbc website: www.bbc.co.uk/youngdancer. You must be aged 16-20 on 1st September 2014 to enter - but we will all be able to follow your progress if you make it through the video selection round to the programmes next year!

Poppy is in the news

We are celebrating the success of one of our young ballerinas, 8 year old Poppy Cordingley, who has been accepted to train as a Royal Ballet School Junior Associate from September 2014. Claire says that it is a wonderful achievement for Poppy to have been selected from so many hopeful dancers. She will take weekly classes in Manchester to compliment her training with the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing.

Poppy recently passed her grade two ballet exam with Distinction 92%. We are extremely proud of her and hope she enjoys her training as much as her appearance in the Matlock Mercury!

The news comes at the perfect time as the school's first junior associate Hannah Kerry (18) graduates from her full time training at Hammond school for performing arts. Maddie Shimwell (18) graduates from the Arts Ed, Tring Park and Daisy Rathbone (20) from Northern Ballet School. It is lovely to see the next generation of dancers following their dreams, and we wish them all the best of luck in their careers. You can see some of their photographs on the students and graduates pages.

Ben and Nina dance in English Youth Ballet's 'The Nutcracker'

Nina Rossello and Benjamin Jones had a brilliant start to the Summer Vacation 2014 - they have been performing with English Youth Ballet in The Nutcracker at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham.

Ben (our Head Boy) danced the part of King Rat in this amazing costume!

The photographs below show Nina in class and Ben in a more traditional costume for our own production of 'Tutu 2'.

Congratulations Daisy

Huge congratulations go to Daisy Edwards, who has won a prized Dance and Drama Award to study at the acclaimed Urdang Academy. She has been based in London since September 2014, and is studying for a 3 year diploma in Professional Dance.

Daisy has been a pupil of the Claire Dobinson School of Dancing from a very young age, before studying full time at the Hammond School in Chester. We are always delighted to see her when she is home for the holidays, and look forward to seeing her on stage in the future!
